Reception

Reception have had a phenomenal term!  We have adored exploring lots of traditional fairy tales. The children have been retelling famous stories such as ‘The Gingerbread Man’…. who incidentally was caught running away from our playground on CCTV!! We have been delving into character descriptions, story settings, problems and epic endings!!

We celebrated World Book Day in the most fabulous style!! The children’s costumes were absolutely fantastic. This was such a wonderful experience sharing our most beloved books and authors for the day together.

Reception brought Miss McConnell to tears with their St Patrick's Day celebrations and the effort they made to make it such a special day. The luck of the Irish shall be with us for the rest of this year that is for sure!!

We have been keeping our fitness levels up in our PE lessons with Mr G, focusing on team building, following instructions, ball skills and balance. In other physical development sessions, we have been creating obstacle courses, dancing, doing lots of fine motor activities, including the very popular morning dough discos and have been appreciating our school grounds in our weekly welly walks.

As expected, our journey back in time exploring how dinosaurs lived proved extremely fascinating. The children’s engagement in this was delightful to see, notably when we went fossil hunting and learned about herbivore and carnivore dinosaurs in science.

We have sung lots of songs, danced, played, laughed and learned so much. I continue to be immensely proud of this class and we are super excited to see where the next term takes us!! Well done reception for another productive and fun time together, we really are such a great team!!

For families of children already in our school please remember to regularly view Tapestry for our weekly shout outs and much more!
