Reception
Where the magic begins!! 🍀
Welcome to Reception at All Saints’ C of E Primary School, where your child’s first year is full of curiosity, joy, adventure and discovery. Guided by our School Vision:
Discovering God, Learning Together and Achieving Our Best and inspired by our values of Curiosity, Respect, Kindness, Courageous Determination and Joyfulness, we provide a nurturing environment where every child can grow, learn and thrive.
We care deeply about children’s wellbeing and mental health. Weekly wonder walks, mindfulness sessions, and our PSED learning through Think Equal and Jigsaw help children feel safe, valued and confident. Our parallel curriculum offer gives children a wide range of experiences to support their social, emotional and personal development. Spirituality is woven into daily life through reflection, wonder and gratitude, celebrating the beauty of the world and helping children explore their place in it.
Communication and language are at the heart of our classroom. Through our Magic Story Box and Tales Toolkit, alongside daily songs, rhymes and poetry from our Poetry Basket, children develop oracy skills, imagination and a love of storytelling that sparks confidence and curiosity.
In maths, we follow the White Rose scheme and Mastering Number, giving children a strong foundation in number, counting and early mathematical thinking.

Phonics is taught daily using the validated Read Write Inc. scheme. We share home learning videos and ideas so children can continue to practise their phonics skills at home in fun and engaging ways.

Healthy bodies support healthy minds. Children enjoy daily fruit and milk, and families are welcome to provide a small, healthy snack (no sugary snacks, chocolate, nuts or peanut products please). We are proud winners of Stockport’s Gold Tooth Award, and continue to promote excellent oral health, safe eating and nutrition in class.
Practical information:
â—Ź PE days are Monday and Thursday. Children should come dressed in their PE kits on these days.
● Weekly “Shouts Out” on Tapestry give families fun ways to extend learning at home. These are optional but loved by children and families, and we welcome home learning observations too.
● Tapestry is our main way of sharing class news, celebrations and important updates – please check in regularly.
Reception is a place where every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their very best, while discovering the magic and joy of learning every day.
Please try to check in on Tapestry regularly so we can celebrate your child’s learning highlights. We also use this as a key tool to communicate and share
important information including weekly shout outs and much more with our families.
If you have any questions or concerns, at any time throughout the course of the year, please do not hesitate to speak to us by appointment or for a brief chat on the door.
